Online High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
by Kole on Wednesday, July 13th, 2022
Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the closing table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best gamblers around the world. While competing in web poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He regularly participates in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus more often than not buys in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He waits for a decent hand and then goes all in. I accept that Hansen is a great poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the table with the min buy in.
Playing for the minimum takes most of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be one of the greatest players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full dollar value. I believe television can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The best poker players anywhere in the world may be players you have never heard of before. Gus can be found competing in online poker on Full Tilt. He generally competes in high stakes omaha/8 and Holdem. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in money rounds?
