No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the globe by many of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover whatever he could about the game. Phil would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental feedback from other people destroy his goal of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

He began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win was not a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil states that he is learning every day and is quite abashed about his achievements. He admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and always strives to get better.

Although Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
