Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather introduced him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover everything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the detrimental comments from others kill his ambition of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.
Phil started competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. He says that he is learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making errors in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Even though Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
