Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only participant to make it to the final table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. He won a big pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest enthusiasts around the world. While playing online poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He frequently participates in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen frequently buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all in. I accept that Hansen is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to play at the table with the min buy-in.

Buying in for the min takes almost all of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is accepted to be one of the greatest players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amount. I think television can alter our perception of the real world at times. The best poker players in the world might just be players you have will not have heard about. Gus can be found wagering on online poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in big stakes omaha eight-or-better and Holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in cash games?
