Each and every one who bets in Texas Holdem knows that Ace-King is one of the best starting hands. But, it is simply that, a beginning hand. It is only 2 cards of a seven-card formula. In nearly every situation, you’ll want to jump out firing with Ace-King as your hole cards. When the flop comes, you need to check out your hand and think things completely before you just suppose your cards are the strongest.

Like many other situations in holdem, knowing your rivals will assisting you in gauging your situation when you hold Ace-King and observe a flop like 9-8-2. Since you wager preflop and were called, you assume your opponent is also possessing great cards and the flop might have by-passed them as badly as it by-passed you. Your assuming will frequently be correct. Also, don’t forget that most bad competitors wouldn’t understand great cards if they happen over them and possibly could have called with A-x and paired the poker table.

If your opposing player checks, you might check and observe a free card or place a wager and try to pick the pot up right then. If they wager, you might raise to observe if they are for real or fold. What you want to avoid is basically calling your competitor’s wager to see what the turn results in. If any card instead of the Ace or King is shown, you will not know any more information than you did following the flop. Now let’s say the turn shows a four and your opponent bets once again, what do you do? To call a bet on the flop you need to believe your hand was the greatest, so you must truly think it still is. So, you call a wager on the turn and 1 more on the river to find out that your opposition was holding 10-8 and just a second pair following the flop. At that point, it hits you that a raise the bet after the flop might have won the money right there.

Ace-King is a wonderful thing to find in your hole cards. Just be sure you compete in them carefully and they can bring you great happiness at the poker table.
