Stu is regarded by many to the finest NL Texas hold’em Poker player ever.

The 3 time World Poker Champ was born in New York in 1953 and began wagering poker before becomming a teenager.

The young gambler began playing gin and at the age of 10 had won his very first gin tournament, while on vacation with his parents. By the time he turned fourteen the little poker genius had turned pro and stopped going to school.

In 1954 Stu entered the record books by succeeding 10 grand in a gin tournament without dropping a single hand, a record which still appears in New York these days.

The quick talking wiz kid has been compared, in poker terms, to sporting greats such as Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. Stu had a genuine ability for wagering poker but despite his achievements in Hold’em poker, he preferred wagering gin.

Stu once said that there may some day be a greater No Limit Hold’em gambler than him except he couldn’t see how anyone could ever be a far better gin player.

In 1980 Stu Ungar was put on the global map as one of the greatest Hold’em Poker gamblers in the planet when he was crowned World Poker Champ for the very first time. Astonishingly it was the first time he had entered the tournament.

The subsequent year he dismissed any thoughts that it had been a fluke, by effectively defending his crown. And in 1997 Stu set the record by succeeding his third World poker championship.

But this poker master also struggled with drug abuse and a year after winning his 3rd title Stu Ungar died in his hotel room. According to medical professionals, he had passed away from a heart attack which was triggered by his lifestyle.

Stu had started out with absolutely nothing except his ability and expertise for the casino game which made this poker wonderful a millionaire a lot of times over.
