Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is frequently viewed as one of the most complex but favored poker variations. It’s a variation that, even more than normal Omaha poker, aims for action from every level of players. This is the chief reason why a once irrelevant game, has grown in acceptance so quickly.

Omaha 8 or better begins just like a normal game of Omaha. Four cards are dealt to each player. A round of betting ensues where players can bet, check, or drop out. 3 cards are dealt out, this is referred to as the flop. One more sequence of betting happens. Once all the gamblers have in turn called or folded, a further card is flipped on the turn. an additional round of betting follows at which point the river card is flipped. The entrants must attempt to make the best high and low 5 card hands using the board and hole cards.

This is where many players get baffled. Unlike Holdem, where the board can be everyone’s hand, in Omaha hi-low the player has to use precisely 3 cards from the board, and precisely two cards from their hand. No more, not a single card less. Unlike regular Omaha, there are two ways a pot might be won: the "high hand" or the "low hand."

A high hand is just what it sounds like. It is the strongest hand out of every player’s, whether that is a straight, flush, full house. It’s the identical notion in nearly all poker games.

A lower hand is more complex, but certainly free’s up the action. When figuring out a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. the lowest hand is the worst hand that could be made, with the lowest value being A-2-3-4-5. Because straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the smallest value hand possible. The low hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an eight and below. The lower hand takes half of the pot, as just like the higher hand. When there is no lower hand presented, the higher hand takes the whole pot.

It may seem complicated initially, following a few hands you will be agile enough to get the fundamental nuances of play with ease. Seeing as you have people wagering for the low and betting for the high, and seeing as so many cards are being used at once, Omaha 8 or better offers an overwhelming range of betting options and seeing that you have many individuals trying for the high, along with many battling for the low hand.
