Internet Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

by Kole on January 4th, 2023

Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only player to achieve final poker table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest bettors anywhere in the world. While betting on net poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus regularly competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen generally buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I believe Hansen is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the table with the min buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes almost all of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total dollar value. I believe television can alter our view of the real world at times. The greatest players anywhere in the world may be guys you have will not have heard of. Gus can be found competing in online poker on Full Tilt. He generally plays in high stakes omaha/8 and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in cash rounds?
