Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His papa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn anything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not let the detrimental comments from others kill his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.

Phil started playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
